1957 - 1967

Montague Court

An iconic landmark, this tower block is located in Gosforth overlooking the Town Moor, and incorporates luxury flats, penthouses and a roof top restaurant. This innovative building was commissioned by Cussins Development. Almost 50 years on, the apartments remain highly sought after in this exclusive development.

Gosforth Swimming Pool

The practice completed many projects for the Gosforth Urban District Council during this period, including a new library with an adjacent swimming pool that included sauna facilities. Their contemporary design used pre-cast concrete panels with exposed aggregate, Jacobean facing brickwork and copper sheeting.

Avondale Court

Avondale Court is one of several high quality, luxury private flats and town house developments in Gosforth. The scheme shows a contemporary, leading edge design in an attractive landscape setting with private courtyards. The building was recognised by several awards, including the Ministry of Housing Gold Medal and the DoE Gold Medal. The development continues to be pride of place in one of the city’s most desirable locations.

1967 - 1977

Bulman House

Constructed in 1971, this award winning office building was commissioned by a group of professional and commercial businesses for their own use. The offices formed part of the overall regeneration of the Regent Centre area.

Cadcam Centre

The Cadcam Centre’s brief was to provide a new research and innovation centre for British Shipbuilders in Wallsend. This was done with a contemporary design, incorporating a double height glazed atrium utilised as a meeting, exhibition and seminar area.

Northern Engineering Industries

This prestigious contract involved an interior design and fit out of the Corporate Headquarters’ for this industrial company, including Directors' suites and meeting rooms with full height hardwood doors and fabric covered panels.

1977 - 1987

Blyth Community Hospital

Blyth Community Hospital and Health Centre occupies a large central site close to the main commercial centre. The building is predominantly single storey, set around large landscaped and accessible courtyards, with shared staff accommodation on the first floor. The project reflects many of the concepts and solutions to contemporary primary care delivery models with the aim of encouraging health as well as treating illness.

Gosforth Centre

A major shopping centre located on Gosforth High Street, which lifted property values. Gosforth centre acted as a commercial anchor by attracting large retail outlets into the area. The high street remains a powerful commercial area in Newcastle to the present day.

Tyne and Wear Metro

Opened in 1980 by the Queen, the Metro utilises 58km of new and existing surface track and 6.1km of newly constructed tunnels. The practice designed stations at Byker, Chillingham Road, South Shields, Tyne Dock and Chichester. Designs were based on a range of modular steel vitreous enamelled panels with distinctive coffered ceilings, highlighting the stations in their local areas.

1987 - 1997

Aldi Stores

As lead consultant to Aldi Stores Ltd, one of the world’s largest food retailers, Waring and Netts have provided architectural, building surveying and research and development services since 1991. During this time, in excess of 60 stores have been developed in an area stretching from the Scottish Borders to Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

North Eastern Co-op

A 12,0000ft2 Hypermarket was constructed at Summerville Farm, Stockton incorporating both food retail and non food retail space. This included a coffee shop and restaurant helping to make this co-op Hypermarket a flagship store in the area.

Teesside Waste to Energy Plant

Located centrally in industrial Teesside, the new Waste to Energy Plant utilised state of the art clean technologies, supplied by the Dutch company Volund, to incinerate domestic waste.

1997 - 2007

Trinity Gardens

The Trinity Gardens project involved the masterplan and design for a mixed use development as part of a major regeneration of Newcastle’s Quayside. The vision was to produce a mix of buildings whose uses were commercially sustainable but also truly complementary in order to regenerate a forgotten and run down ‘backwater’ of Newcastle. The revitalised Trinity Gardens is a key feature in what is now seen as the jewel in Newcastle’s crown.

Freckleton Health Centre

A new Health Care Centre on an existing site, this build comprises two medical practices and extensive Primary Care Trust facilities. A double height circular drum at the entrance provides an impressive focal point to the building.

Blyth Community College

This landmark building is a major focal point for both students and the local community. An award winning new college with adult and community facilities, it boasts an open learning centre, a crčche and a public library amongst its many state of the art learning resources. The stunning exterior combines brick, wood and glass in an exciting combination of traditional, natural and high tech styling.
