Sunderland BSF
We are the preferred bidder for this project, which involves the creation of two new learning environments and extensive remodelling of an existing facility; Castle View, Washington and St. Robert of Newminster Schools.
Washington School is situated close to the main approach to Sunderland and will act as a ‘shop front for education’ to visitors entering the region. Its unique design of a central ‘heart’ space with four connecting hub spaces will inspire students, teachers and local residents alike. The specification of a green roof provides the school with another way of contributing to the local community, as it will serve to reduce the area’s carbon footprint.
Castle View has been sensitively designed to fit in with its surroundings, incorporating an existing sports hall into its design and blending in with the school during its construction.
The schools are conceived as bases for the wider community as well as the attending students. Upon completion, we are confident that we can ensure a better quality of life as wide a range of stakeholders as possible.
