World Headquarters

Refurbishment and fit-out of disused city centre warehouse into new ‘alternative’ bar & nightclub premises over two floors.

The Clients’ ethos was to create a chilled-out music venue enhanced with 70’s retro paraphernalia. The interiors have a much understated industrial aesthetic acting as a backdrop to the eclectic range of posters, album covers and Afro art. The ground floor is light & open, serving as a cafe-bar & occasional art gallery during the day. There is a huge window at the front on this floor. Extending down to floor level, it invites those outside with tempting views of the bar in the distance & people chilling & enjoying the atmosphere at the front. The main visual focus to the ground floor is the large L-shaped bar. The bar front is built of glass blocks backlit with blue glowing light to give the slightly tropical impression that the bar counter is floating on the sea. For those who like to be close to their music, there is a cosy lounge style seating area next to the DJ booth, tucked in a niche under the stairs.  Moving through to the rear, the dark & moody staircase provides you with a flavour of things to come on the first floor nightclub.

The first floor is the nightclub floor. The dark and moody atmosphere is sharply contrasted by the light & glow from the glass-blocks bar.  The DJ takes centre stage on this floor, and the effect of walking in through the main door is akin to seeing a gospel preacher in the pulpit, performing to the converted masses of music lovers!
