What made you want to join _space?
There were quite a few reasons, one of which is the perk of having break-out spaces around the office. Before I joined _space, I had a habit of sitting at my desk during lunch but now I can enjoy a few games of pool in my lunch break.
What would you consider to be a typical day at the office?
I aim to get in between 7:30 and 8, but will try and stop off for a freshly baked choccie croissant to complement a well brewed cup of coffee, to help get over the drab Winter mornings. A typical work day usually involves actioning e-mails, liaising with clients and contractors and from time to time, a little bit of design work.
Are there any particular aspects of your job you prefer?
My work varies quite a bit, I’m usually out on site visits around five times a week. One of the main reasons I got into the profession was the flexibility it offers and the ability to get out of the office - especially in the Summer!
Does your job have any negative points?
I think the worst part of the job is the fact that a lot of other professions can be more financially rewarding.
Who would you consider to be the biggest influence in your life?
I don’t think there is anyone in particular, but I do have a lot of respect for people who have made something of their lives, especially where they have come from poor backgrounds such as the French footballer Zinidine Zidane and Gordon Ramsay.
Do you have a ‘dream job’?
I don\'t have a dream job as such, but if I\'d had a crystal ball whilst at school I probably would have taken up a building trade as the wages seem to be outstripping those offered in many professions.
Where do you see yourself in ten years time?
I hope to be working some where warmer, maybe Australia. Apparently they have Building Surveyors over there as well!
